DALLAS — The Dallas Mavericks have named Dusty May as the franchise’s new head coach, bringing in one of college basketball’s most successful program builders to lead the team.
May arrives from the University of Michigan, where he guided the Wolverines to the 2026 NCAA National Championship and compiled a 64-13 record in two seasons. Before Michigan, he transformed Florida Atlantic into a national contender, highlighted by the Owls’ historic Final Four run in 2023.
Known for player development and culture building, May has spent more than two decades coaching at multiple levels, including assistant stops at Eastern Michigan, Murray State, UAB, Louisiana Tech, and Florida.
The Mavericks view May as a leader capable of developing talent and helping the organization compete for championships. He will be introduced at a later date.
