SAN FRANCISCO — The Dallas Wings made a furious fourth-quarter push Monday night, but it wasn’t enough, falling 78-70 to the Golden State Valkyries at Chase Center.
Dallas erased much of a 20-point deficit, outscoring Golden State 28-12 in the fourth, but couldn’t complete the comeback.
Paige Bueckers led Dallas with 21 points, including 19 in the second half, while Arike Ogunbowale added 17. Alanna Smith finished with 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting.
Turnovers proved costly for the Wings. Dallas committed 18, leading to 20 Golden State points. The Valkyries also received a 27-12 advantage from their bench.
Gabby Williams led Golden State with 23 points as the Valkyries improved to 25-9 and clinched a playoff spot. Dallas fell to 20-16.
The Wings return home Thursday to begin a six-game homestand against the Indiana Fever at American Airlines Center. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. CT.
