LEXINGTON, SC — The postseason journey for Dallas Trinity FC came to a close Saturday night after a 2-0 road loss to Lexington SC in the Gainbridge Super League semifinals.
Despite the result, Dallas capped off another milestone campaign, becoming one of only two clubs in the league to reach the postseason in consecutive seasons.
Lexington controlled possession for much of the match and capitalized on its opportunities, finishing with seven shots on target. Dallas matched Lexington with 13 total shots and generated five attempts on frame, but could not break through offensively.
Goalkeeper Tyler McCamey delivered a strong performance in her postseason debut, recording five saves to keep Dallas within striking distance. McCamey closed the season with 51 saves and three clean sheets across 15 regular-season appearances.
Head coach Nathan Thackeray said halftime adjustments helped Dallas regain momentum after Lexington seized control early.
“We had to make some tweaks at halftime,” Thackeray said. “We tried to push our line a bit higher defensively, which led to more takeaways for us. After their second goal, I thought we played quite well and created some good scoring chances. Overall, it felt like a pretty even game.”
Dallas showed resilience late, spending extended stretches in Lexington’s half while searching for a breakthrough goal, but the top-seeded hosts held firm defensively to secure a spot in the championship match.
The semifinal also marked a memorable moment for defender Lauren Lapomarda, a Prosper, Texas native and former Texas standout, who made her club debut as a late substitute after not appearing during the regular season.
In total, 16 players saw action for Dallas in the season-ending match.
Forward Bethany Bos reflected on the club’s perseverance throughout an injury-filled season that tested the squad’s depth.
“I’m really proud of our group,” Bos said. “We dealt with a lot of injuries, and people had to step into different roles throughout the season. Even with those challenges, making the playoffs and getting this far says a lot about the character of this team.”
Though the season ended one step short of the championship match, Dallas once again established itself as one of the league’s consistent contenders heading into the future.
