ARLINGTON, Texas — The Texas Rangers wasted little time putting pressure on Seattle and never let up Saturday night, riding an early offensive outburst and another dominant performance from Nathan Eovaldi to a 7-1 victory over the Mariners at Globe Life Field.
The win was Texas’ second straight coming out of the All-Star break and pushed the Rangers to a season-best two-game lead atop the American League West. It also improved Texas to 6-2 against Seattle this season, leaving the Rangers one victory away from securing the season series.
Texas continued to lean on a formula that has delivered results throughout the season: score first and provide enough run support for one of baseball’s strongest pitching staffs. The Rangers built a 5-0 advantage through the first two innings, scoring three times in the opening frame before adding two more in the second. It marked only the second time this season they have scored multiple runs in both the first and second innings of a game.
Eovaldi (10-4) took care of the rest.
The veteran right-hander allowed one run on three hits over seven innings, striking out eight while walking one. He threw 91 pitches, 61 for strikes, and finished his outing by retiring the final seven batters he faced.
The victory gave Eovaldi his 10th win of the season, tying him for the second-most in the American League. He has now reached double-digit victories in each of his four seasons with Texas, becoming the franchise’s first pitcher since Rick Helling (1998-2001) to record four consecutive 10-win campaigns.
Seattle’s lone run came in the fifth inning after Luke Raley singled with two outs before J.P. Crawford followed with an RBI base hit, ending Eovaldi’s shutout bid. The Rangers’ ace quickly regrouped, needing only 23 pitches to dispatch the final seven hitters.
The Rangers’ lineup produced quality at-bats throughout the night.
Wyatt Langford matched his season high with three hits, including doubles in each of his first two trips to the plate. His second double stretched Texas’ lead to 4-0 before he exited in the seventh inning for a defensive replacement. Langford has been one of the American League’s hottest hitters since mid-June, continuing a torrid stretch that includes a league-leading batting average, slugging percentage, and OPS over his last 26 games.
Ezequiel Duran helped spark the early rally by driving an RBI triple into the right-center field gap in the first inning before adding an RBI single in the second. The versatile infielder has now hit safely in five consecutive games and continues to be one of Texas’ most productive run producers.
Joc Pederson added three hits, including a double, to extend his hitting streak to six games, while Evan Carter contributed an RBI double in the first inning and drew two walks. Alejandro Osuna provided the finishing touch with a two-run double in the seventh that expanded the Rangers’ lead to six runs.
Seattle starter Bryan Woo (7-7) struggled through the opening innings, surrendering five earned runs on nine hits across five innings. Although he settled in after the second inning, the early damage proved too much for the Mariners to overcome.
Crawford, returning after missing four games with left wrist soreness, collected two hits and drove in Seattle’s only run.
The loss dropped the Mariners to 51-54 and extended their losing streak to four games. Seattle also fell to 0-5 at Globe Life Field this season and now trails Texas by 2½ games in the division standings.
Texas’ pitching staff continued another encouraging trend, holding the opposition without a home run for the fifth consecutive game, its longest such streak since April 2025.
