SAN JOSE, Calif. — FC Dallas delivered one of its biggest road results of the season Saturday night, holding off San Jose Earthquakes for a 3-2 win at PayPal Park and earning its first victory in San Jose in nearly a decade.
Midfielder Patrickson Delgado wasted no time setting the tone, scoring just moments after kickoff with the fifth-fastest goal in club history. The early strike gave Dallas immediate momentum and helped silence a San Jose side that entered the match among the Western Conference’s top teams.
Dallas continued to press throughout the opening half and found another key breakthrough from forward Petar Musa, who netted his 12th goal of the season. Musa has been one of the club’s most consistent attacking threats this year, and his finish added breathing room in a tense road environment.
The match also marked the debut of goalkeeper Jonathan Sirois, who earned the start and delivered several important moments between the posts to help Dallas secure all three points.
Delgado added his second goal of the season during an energetic performance in midfield as FC Dallas showed composure late despite a push from the Earthquakes.
Following the final whistle, head coach Eric Quill said the result could become a turning point for the club as it pushes toward the postseason.
“We know we can play with anybody and win every game,” Quill said. “Coming on the road against a top team like San Jose and getting this result changes the psychology of the group for the better.”
The win marked Dallas’ first road victory over San Jose since July 8, 2016, ending a lengthy drought in Northern California and providing a confidence boost ahead of the league’s upcoming FIFA World Cup break.
FC Dallas closes out its final regular-season match before the break on May 23 against the Colorado Rapids at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park.
