OXNARD, Calif. — George Pickens believes the Dallas Cowboys’ demanding training camp is building the habits needed for success once the regular season begins.
The veteran wide receiver said the fast-paced practices and conditioning sessions have prepared the team for upcoming scrimmages and the physical demands of the season. He credited the coaching staff for maintaining a high standard throughout camp.
Pickens is coming off a breakout 2025 season in which he recorded 93 receptions for 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns in 17 games, earning his first Pro Bowl selection and second-team All-Pro honors.
While Pickens has made several standout plays during camp, he said his focus remains on daily improvement rather than individual numbers.
“I just take it one day at a time,” Pickens said. “Anytime I can be around the guys and the team, I feel like I’m having a good day.”
Pickens said he has drawn inspiration from Kobe Bryant’s “Mamba Mentality,” emphasizing a mindset centered on continuous improvement. He also worked with defensive line coach Aaron Whitecotton on hand technique to improve against press coverage.
Looking ahead, Pickens expects Dallas’ joint practices with the Los Angeles Rams to provide another valuable test as the Cowboys continue preparing for the 2026 season.
