WASHINGTON — FC Dallas delivered one of its most complete performances of the season Saturday night, overwhelming D.C. United 4-0 on the road with a sharp attacking edge and a long-awaited defensive reset.
The result marked the second-largest away victory in club history and showcased a team regaining its identity after recent defensive lapses.
Forwards Logan Farrington and Petar Musa continued their scoring surge, each finding the net for a second straight match as Dallas dictated tempo from the opening whistle. Midfielder Patrickson Delgado added his first goal of the 2026 campaign in his first start, while newcomer Santiago Moreno made his club debut in a match that steadily tilted in Dallas’ favor.
Head coach Eric Quill emphasized a renewed focus on defensive structure after conceding six goals across the previous two matches. That message translated immediately, with Dallas limiting chances and controlling transitions throughout.
“We wanted to get back to who we are defensively,” Quill said. “The quality going forward has always been there, but the commitment behind the ball made the difference tonight.”
Dallas seized control late in the first half with a pivotal second goal that shifted momentum firmly in its direction. Unlike a recent collapse against Houston, Quill’s side maintained its attacking posture after the break, refusing to sit back on the lead. The approach paid off, with two more goals sealing the result and underlining the team’s aggressive mindset.
Farrington’s finish came after a well-timed run into open space, calmly slotting home after gathering a precise pass. The forward credited growing chemistry within the squad for the team’s recent attacking rhythm.
“We’re understanding each other more every week,” Farrington said. “Guys know where I’ll be, and I know what’s expected of me. It’s all coming together.”
Goalkeeper Michael Collodi anchored the defensive effort, helping secure a clean sheet that carried equal importance to the offensive output. Even with a comfortable lead, Dallas remained locked in defensively — a point of emphasis after recent results.
“A shutout meant a lot to us tonight,” Collodi said. “That focus didn’t change, even when we were up.”
Dallas’ depth also proved decisive, with substitutes providing energy and helping maintain control as the match wore on. The cohesion, Quill noted, reflects a roster buying into a collective approach rather than individual roles.
With the victory, FC Dallas builds momentum heading into a return home, aiming to climb further up the standings while maintaining the balance that defined Saturday’s performance.
“We’ll enjoy this tonight,” Quill said, “but we stay grounded. There’s more work ahead.”
