FRISCO, Texas — The Dallas Cowboys are making another change to their quarterback room before the regular season.

Dallas is waiving quarterback Joe Milton, clearing the way for Sam Howell to move into the backup role behind Dak Prescott.

The move gives the Cowboys a more defined depth chart at quarterback as they prepare for the start of the regular season. Prescott remains the starter, with Howell now positioned as the next option if Dallas needs to turn to its backup.

The Cowboys will continue finalizing their roster as they get closer to Week 1.
