BROOKLYN, NY — Dallas Trinity FC salvaged a point against Brooklyn FC with a late equalizer, earning a 1-1 draw to close out the season series between the two clubs.
Seven Castain found the net in the 86th minute, scoring her second goal of the season and helping Dallas avoid a road defeat. Juliet “LJ” Moore set up the goal, recording the first professional assist of her career.
Dallas controlled much of the match, finishing with a 64.2% share of possession while outshooting Brooklyn 14-11. Both teams managed four shots on target.
Despite its territorial advantage, Dallas conceded during a transition sequence, putting the visitors in position to chase the game late. Head coach Lee Nguyen credited his team’s determination and response after falling behind.
“I thought the fight, determination and grit throughout the game were great,” Nguyen said. “We controlled it for the most part. Unfortunately, we gave up a goal off our own transition. But I thought the fight from the girls all game was great, and then to be able to come back and get the point was good.”
Goalkeeper Neeku Purcell finished with three saves as Dallas secured the draw. Fourteen players saw action for Trinity, including defender Giulianna Gianino, who made her professional debut and earned her first start with the club.
For Gianino, the milestone carried added meaning with family members in attendance.
“I was happy to go back up Northeast and have my family here,” Gianino said. “It was huge for me. I felt very supported and felt like I had a lot of trust instilled in me throughout the couple weeks building up. It was really a dream come true.”
The result leaves Dallas with a 1-0-1 record against Brooklyn this season and a 4-3-2 mark in the all-time series. Castain’s late finish and Moore’s milestone assist provided the closing highlights as Trinity fought back to leave with a point.
