ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — The Texas Rangers’ offense went quiet after the middle innings Wednesday night, and the Chicago White Sox took advantage to earn a 4-2 victory at Globe Life Field and claim the three-game series.

Texas managed just five hits and failed to record one after Ezequiel Duran’s fourth-inning double. The Rangers went hitless over their final 18 at-bats while striking out nine times, dropping their second straight series since the All-Star break. Texas has lost three of its last four games and is 7-9 in July after closing June with a season-best six-game winning streak.

Cam Cauley supplied one of the few bright spots for the Rangers, launching his first major league home run in the second inning to tie the game at 1-1. Patrickson Delgado? (No, wrong team) Elias Díaz later drove in Texas’ other run on a fourth-inning ground-ball double play.

Tyler Alexander made his fourth opener start of the season, allowing one run over two innings before Cal Quantrill (3-3) took the loss. Quantrill surrendered two runs across three innings as his ERA climbed to 4.05.

Chicago broke the game open behind Chase Meidroth, who matched a career high with four hits and drove in two runs, while Andrew Benintendi added a pair of RBI singles. Anthony Kay (7-4) earned the win after limiting Texas to two runs over five innings.

The Rangers lost the series despite not allowing a home run, marking their second consecutive series defeat coming out of the All-Star break.
