ARLINGTON, Texas — The Texas Rangers managed just two hits Friday night in a 7-1 loss to the Chicago Cubs at Globe Life Field, dropping to 17-21 on the season.
Texas has now lost 12 of its last 18 games and was held without an extra-base hit for the first time in 30 games. Justin Foscue delivered the Rangers’ lone RBI with a pinch-hit single in the fifth inning, while Ezequiel Duran added the club’s only other hit.
Kumar Rocker took the loss after allowing three earned runs over 3 2/3 innings. The right-hander labored through a 39-pitch fourth inning, highlighted by Seiya Suzuki’s two-run homer that pushed Chicago’s lead to 3-0.
The Cubs continued their dominant stretch, winning their 10th straight game behind four hitless innings from Ben Brown and another strong offensive performance. Suzuki stayed hot at the plate with his seventh homer of the season, while Ian Happ extended his on-base streak to 29 games.
Duran continued his strong stretch for Texas, batting .314 over his last 23 games.
