NEW YORK — The Texas Rangers battled early but couldn’t slow down New York’s offense late as the Yankees secured a 7-4 victory Tuesday night.
Texas stayed within striking distance for much of the game before New York capitalized on key opportunities in the later innings to create separation. The Rangers showed flashes offensively but struggled to contain the Yankees’ timely hitting and pressure on the bases.
The loss puts added focus on Wednesday’s series finale, where Texas will hand the ball to veteran right-hander Nathan Eovaldi. Eovaldi enters the matchup with a 3-4 record and a 4.76 ERA and will face undefeated Yankees starter Will Warren, who is 4-0 with a 2.39 ERA this season.
First pitch is set for Wednesday as the Rangers look to avoid dropping the series at home.
