DALLAS — Dallas Trinity FC dictated the tempo for long stretches and generated a steady stream of chances, but a lack of finishing proved costly in a 1-0 defeat to Carolina Ascent FC.
Despite the result, Dallas remains in a favorable position in the Gainbridge Super League playoff race. Sitting fourth in the standings with 32 points (9-10-5), Trinity holds a narrow cushion over fifth-place DC Power FC while trailing Carolina by 10 points for third. With four matches left, the margin for error is tightening, but their postseason hopes remain firmly intact.
Saturday’s match told a frustrating story for the home side. Dallas controlled possession at nearly 60 percent and outshot Carolina 24-8, including a 7-2 edge in shots on target. Still, the breakthrough never came.
“We can’t let teams hang around,” head coach Nathan Thackeray said. “The performance was there. We controlled the match and created plenty of opportunities, but we have to be more clinical in front of goal.”
Goalkeeper Tyler McCamey recorded one save in the match, bringing her season total to 31 stops across 11 appearances. Carolina, meanwhile, capitalized on one of its limited chances to secure all three points.
Fifteen players saw the field for Dallas, which slipped to 1-2-0 against Carolina this season and 3-3-1 in the all-time series dating back to 2024. At home, Trinity now stands at 5-5-3.
Forward Jasmine Hamid, who recently joined the squad, said she is settling in quickly as the team pushes toward the postseason.
“It’s been a smooth transition,” Hamid said. “The group has been really welcoming, and I’m just focused on getting comfortable and contributing however I can down the stretch.”
Dallas will now turn its attention to a pivotal road swing, beginning with a matchup against Brooklyn FC on April 25. With only a handful of games remaining, every point carries added weight as Trinity looks to secure its playoff spot.
