DALLAS, TEXAS — The Dallas Mavericks have announced that they acquired five-time All-Star Klay Thompson and a future second-round pick as part of a six-team sign-and-trade deal. In exchange, they traded guard/forward Josh Green and a future second-round pick. This transaction is historic, as it is the first six-team trade in NBA history.
Dallas Mavericks General Manager Nico Harrison expressed his excitement about Klay joining the team, stating that Klay’s exceptional shooting and two-way play make him a perfect fit for their team. Harrison also highlighted Klay’s championship experience, clutch performances, and leadership qualities that will contribute to the team’s goal of winning another championship.
Klay Thompson, a five-time All-Star, contributed to the Golden State Warriors’ four NBA championships and has a career average of 19.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. He is also known for his impressive shooting percentages, ranking sixth in league history for 3-point field goals made. Additionally, Thompson has consistently maintained a high free-throw percentage throughout his career.
