DALLAS — FC Dallas extended its unbeaten streak to six matches Saturday with a 1-0 victory over Los Angeles FC, moving into second place in the Western Conference.
Osaze Urhoghide provided the difference, heading in Joaquín Valiente’s set-piece delivery for his second goal of the season. Valiente recorded his team-leading 13th assist.
The goal came in a tightly contested match in which LAFC made it difficult for Dallas to create chances by defending with numbers behind the ball.
“We had to compete for a lot of loose balls,” FC Dallas coach Eric Quill said. “Sometimes you need a set piece.”
Goalkeeper Jonathan Sirois preserved the shutout in his 100th MLS regular-season appearance as Dallas held on for another clean sheet.
The match also marked the MLS debut of forward Daniel Job, who played 15 minutes and drew a foul near the top of the penalty area.
“I felt really good tonight,” Job said. “I’m very happy to have made my debut in front of the home fans.”
Quill said Dallas remains focused on competing for the Western Conference title.
“Our goal is to be champions at the end,” Quill said.
FC Dallas returns to action Oct. 10 against Charlotte FC at Bank of America Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT.
