RIO DE JANEIRO — The Dallas Cowboys came within seconds of escaping Brazil with a win.
Instead, Baltimore Ravens kicker Tyler Loop connected on a 56-yard field goal as time expired, lifting Baltimore to a 34-31 victory over Dallas Sunday at Maracanã Stadium.
The Cowboys traded punches with Baltimore throughout the afternoon, with neither team able to create much separation.
Dallas took an early 10-7 lead after a Brandon Aubrey field goal and a 2-yard touchdown run by Javonte Williams. Baltimore answered with two Derrick Henry touchdown runs to take a 17-13 lead into halftime.
The Cowboys continued to battle in the second half.
Dak Prescott connected with Jake Ferguson for a 19-yard touchdown, followed by a successful two-point conversion to CeeDee Lamb. KaVontae Turpin later put Dallas back in front with a 9-yard touchdown run.
Baltimore responded with a late touchdown to take a 31-28 lead, but Dallas had one more answer. Aubrey’s 23-yard field goal with seven seconds remaining tied the game at 31.
That gave Baltimore just enough time for one final possession.
Loop’s 56-yarder split the uprights as the clock hit zero, ending a wild finish and handing Dallas its second loss of the season.
Prescott finished 25 of 40 for 276 yards, while Lamb led Dallas with seven catches for 112 yards. Williams added 98 rushing yards and a touchdown on 19 carries.
The Cowboys return from Rio with a 1-2 record and a frustrating reminder of how little separated them from a victory.
