DALLAS — Jamie Benn is getting close to a milestone that only one player in Dallas Stars history has reached.
Benn scored his 999th career point Saturday night as Dallas held off the San Jose Sharks for a 4-3 win at American Airlines Center. He’s now one point away from joining Mike Modano as the only players in franchise history to reach 1,000 points. Modano finished his career with 1,359.
It was a productive night across the Dallas lineup, particularly on the power play. Thomas Harley had a goal and two assists, all on the man advantage, while Wyatt Johnston chipped in two assists. Roope Hintz finished with a goal and an assist, and Mikko Rantanen added two assists.
Harley’s performance was one of the night’s biggest contributions. His three power-play points marked the second time in his career he’s recorded that many in a game. He’s also just the eighth defenseman in franchise history to accomplish it more than once.
The Stars needed that production. With penalties coming throughout the night, there wasn’t much opportunity for either team to find a consistent rhythm at even strength.
Head coach Glen Gulutzan said the special teams made the difference.
“Our power play was good tonight. You can’t win in the league without them,” Gulutzan said. “5-on-5 it seems like the league has gotten so tight. You look at all the games, the margins are just small. The special teams certainly helped us win tonight.”
Johnston has been heating up, too. His two assists extended his point streak to five games, giving him eight points during that stretch. It’s his first five-game streak since November 2025.
Hintz continued his success against San Jose. His goal and assist extended his point streak against the Sharks to 10 games, a stretch in which he’s collected 14 points.
Rantanen has also had the Sharks’ number. His two assists gave him 14 points over his last nine games against San Jose.
Robertson scored Dallas’ third goal and now has 22 points in 17 career games against the Sharks.
For Benn, however, the attention will turn to what comes next.
One more point separates the Stars captain from 1,000 for his career. Considering what he’s meant to this franchise, it’s a milestone Dallas fans won’t want to miss.
