FC Dallas Claims Copa Tejas After Scoreless Draw With Austin FC

FRISCO, Texas — FC Dallas secured the Copa Tejas for the third time in club history Saturday night, settling for a 0-0 draw against Austin FC in a match where Dallas created the better chances but could not find the finishing touch.

The result gave FC Dallas the Texas rivalry trophy while extending its 2026 Copa Tejas success. Dallas also recorded its sixth shutout of the season, with goalkeeper Daniel earning his first clean sheet since joining the club.

FC Dallas controlled much of the attacking play and generated several quality opportunities, but Austin goalkeeper Brad Stuver kept the match scoreless with several key saves, including a late stop that denied Dallas a potential winner.

Head coach Eric Quill said he felt his team did enough to earn all three points.

“I think you saw that we had the best opportunities, and we just weren’t clinical in those moments,” Quill said.

Quill pointed to the statistical disparity between the teams, noting that Austin finished with an expected-goals total of just 0.28.

Dallas’ defensive performance was one of the bright spots. The FC Dallas back line limited Austin’s attacking opportunities throughout the night, while the team remained organized without the ball.

Still, the inability to capitalize on its chances left Quill frustrated despite winning the cup.

“It’s bittersweet,” Quill said. “Yes, we’re the Copa Tejas winners … but I’m just sorry that we didn’t get the three points.”

The draw capped another competitive chapter in the Texas rivalry and gave FC Dallas another piece of silverware to add to its club history.

Now, Dallas turns its attention back to MLS play.

FC Dallas will close out September by hosting Los Angeles FC on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 7:30 p.m. at Toyota Stadium.
