FRISCO, Texas — Dak Prescott isn’t ready to let the Cowboys’ season-opening loss to the Giants become a bigger issue than it needs to be.
With Washington coming to AT&T Stadium on Sunday, Prescott said Dallas needs to respond by playing with greater discipline, establishing the running game and getting off to a faster start.
Prescott said the Cowboys shouldn’t panic after one loss. Instead, he believes the team needs to trust its preparation, make the necessary corrections and “double down” on what it does well.
The running game will be a key part of that approach. Prescott said establishing the run can open opportunities for play-action and allow Dallas’ playmakers to attack downfield.
Prescott also praised the passion of rookie teammate Jason, whose visible frustration during the Giants game showed how much the young player cares about his performance and the team.
Meanwhile, Prescott is closing in on another milestone. He is four touchdown passes away from passing Tony Romo for the Cowboys’ franchise record.
But Prescott’s focus remains on Washington.
“It’s about being disciplined, doing the little things,” he said.
For Dallas, Sunday’s NFC East matchup provides an immediate opportunity to turn the page.
