ARLINGTON, Texas — The Texas Rangers moved within one game of .500 with a 4-2 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night at Globe Life Field.

Texas scored all four of its runs in the second inning, getting a two-run double from Elias Díaz and a two-run single from Corey Seager.

Jacob deGrom worked five innings for his 11th win, allowing two runs on three hits with one walk and eight strikeouts. His only major mistake came in the third inning, when Nick Sogard hit a two-run homer.

DeGrom has allowed just four earned runs over his last 24 innings, striking out 35 while walking two.

Seager went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and continues to produce since returning from the injured list. He is batting .328 with a 1.005 OPS against left-handed pitchers since July 31.

Díaz also remains hot, posting an .833 OPS with two homers, four doubles and 13 RBIs over his last 18 games.

Jacob Latz recorded the final five outs for his 30th save of the season, becoming the second Rangers pitcher since 2017 to reach 30 saves in a season. He also became the first left-handed pitcher in franchise history to reach the milestone.

The Rangers have won three straight and are now 75-76. They have also won six consecutive series openers at Globe Life Field.

Boston starter Patrick Sandoval lasted just 2 2/3 innings, allowing four runs on four hits and two walks.

The Red Sox bullpen held Texas scoreless for the final 5 1/3 innings, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome.

The teams continue their three-game series Wednesday in Arlington.
