FORT WORTH, Texas — TCU turned its home opener into a runaway from the start.
The Horned Frogs overwhelmed Grambling State 63-7 on Saturday night at Amon G. Carter Stadium, piling up 33 first downs and controlling the game on both sides of the ball.
The temperature was 100 degrees at kickoff, making it the hottest game ever recorded at the stadium. Despite the heat, TCU showed little sign of slowing down.
Quarterback Jaden Craig delivered the biggest performance of his career, throwing for 391 yards and four touchdowns while completing the day with a career-long 31-yard rushing touchdown. His four touchdown passes matched his career high.
TCU’s offense produced its highest point total since a 63-point performance against Jackson State in 2017.
Tight end Kari Ashley also had a breakout night, becoming the first TCU tight end to surpass 100 receiving yards since Jared Wiley against Baylor in 2023. Ashley also scored the first touchdown of his career.
The Horned Frogs’ defense was just as dominant, limiting Grambling State to only 20 rushing yards. It marked the first time TCU held an opponent below 25 rushing yards since Purdue ran for 23 yards in 2019.
TCU also blocked a punt and a field goal. Dillon Arkansas recorded the blocked punt, TCU’s first since Shad Banks Jr. against Utah in 2024, while Ansel Din-Mbuh’s blocked field goal was the program’s first since the 2024 matchup against UCF.
Vernon Glover Jr. added his third career interception, while Major Everhart and Amante Martin each scored the first touchdowns of their careers. Jon Denman also found the end zone for the second consecutive game.
The victory extended TCU’s scoring streak to 422 consecutive games, the second-longest active streak in NCAA history behind Florida’s 474.
The Horned Frogs also improved to 24-3 in home openers during the 21st century.
With 37,600 fans in attendance, TCU provided plenty for its home crowd to celebrate — and did it on a night that will be remembered for both the heat and the scoreboard.
