Dallas Trinity FC Defeats D.C. Power FC 2-1

DALLAS — Dallas Trinity FC earned its second straight home victory Saturday, defeating D.C. Power FC 2-1 before beginning a road trip.

Oneyeka Gamero opened the scoring in the 42nd minute with her second goal of the season. Jasmine Hamid added her third in the 56th minute, with defender Cyera Hitzen recording her first assist of the season.

D.C. scored later, but Dallas held on for the win. Trinity finished with 10 shots, four on target, and controlled 58.7% of possession. D.C. had eight shots, with one on target.

The victory moved Dallas to 1-0 against D.C. this season and 2-4-2 all-time.

“I think the confidence has always been there,” head coach Lee Nguyen said. “Being able to show them we can play against anybody and now the results are coming.”

The match also marked the professional debut of defender Meila Brewer, who started for Dallas. Midfielder Felicia Knox made her first start, while 16 players saw action.

Brewer called her debut exciting.

“It’s just so exciting and I am excited to learn and grow with them,” she said.
