FRISCO, Texas — FC Dallas has strengthened its roster for the second half of the 2026 Major League Soccer season, acquiring Brazilian goalkeeper Daniel from the San Jose Earthquakes in a move designed to add veteran experience and competition between the posts.
Daniel, 32, arrives in North Texas after spending the past three-plus seasons with San Jose, where he established himself as one of the league’s dependable shot-stoppers. The Brazilian signed with the Earthquakes in 2023 following a successful stint with Brazilian club Internacional and recently agreed to a contract extension before being dealt to Dallas.
The transaction comes as FC Dallas looks to improve its defensive consistency heading into the final stretch of the MLS campaign. Daniel brings valuable experience, athleticism and composure in goal, attributes that have made him a regular starter during his MLS career.
Financial terms of the trade were not disclosed by FC Dallas in its announcement, but reports indicate San Jose could receive up to $1 million in General Allocation Money as part of the agreement.
Before making the move to Major League Soccer, Daniel developed through Internacional’s academy and went on to make nearly 70 first-team appearances for the Brazilian club. Since arriving in MLS, he has earned a reputation for strong reflexes, command of the penalty area and consistent performances against some of the league’s top attacking clubs.
The acquisition provides FC Dallas with additional depth at one of the game’s most important positions as the club continues its push through the second half of the regular season. Daniel is expected to compete immediately for playing time and add leadership to a roster aiming to climb the Western Conference standings.
His arrival also gives FC Dallas another experienced voice in the locker room as the club prepares for a critical stretch of league matches with playoff positioning on the line.
