Bueckers Powers Wings Past Mercury, 85-70

ARLINGTON, Texas — Paige Bueckers scored a season-high 31 points as the Dallas Wings rolled to an 85-70 victory over the Phoenix Mercury on Thursday night before a sold-out crowd at College Park Center.

Bueckers added six rebounds and five assists while shooting 14-of-20 from the field, helping Dallas improve to 8-4 overall and 3-1 in Commissioner’s Cup play.

Jessica Shepard recorded her seventh double-double of the season with 17 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists, while rookie Azzi Fudd added 17 points, four assists and three blocks.

The Wings dominated inside, scoring a season-high 50 points in the paint and shooting 52.1 percent from the floor. Dallas also won the rebounding battle, 37-31, improving to 6-0 this season when outrebounding opponents.

Lexi Held led Phoenix with 17 points off the bench, while Kahleah Copper finished with 13 points.

Dallas led throughout the game, never surrendering the advantage, and held the Mercury to 39.1 percent shooting in the victory.

The Wings return to action Saturday night when they travel to face the Portland Fire.
