ANAHEIM, Calif. — The Texas Rangers couldn’t capitalize on scoring chances Saturday night, falling 5-2 to the Los Angeles Angels at Angel Stadium as Mike Trout delivered a key two-run homer.
Texas put runners on base throughout the game but struggled to come up with timely hits, continuing an inconsistent stretch offensively. Trout’s blast helped the Angels create separation before their bullpen closed out the series-clinching win.
The Rangers will try to avoid a sweep in Sunday’s finale. Los Angeles is expected to start left-hander Reid Detmers, while Texas had not announced a starter.
