MINNEAPOLIS — FC Dallas continued its strong road form Wednesday night, earning a 2-1 victory over Minnesota United FC for a historic seventh road win of the season — the most in the post-penalty shootout era.
Santiago Moreno scored the game-winning goal on an assist from Sam Sarver, while Kaick scored for the second consecutive match. Joaquín Valiente added his 11th assist of the season.
Head coach Eric Quill credited the team’s defensive discipline and ability to capitalize in transition.
“Our collective unity behind the ball. We defended beautifully tonight and found our moments to counter, we deserved to win,” Quill said.
Moreno said the team’s determination was evident from the opening whistle.
“From the first minute, you could see how badly we wanted to win,” Moreno said.
The midfielder believes the result can help FC Dallas enter the playoffs with confidence.
“From there, we’re going to fight for MLS Cup,” Moreno said. “I think we have a great group with a lot of confidence, and we’re capable of fighting for the championship.”
Quill said the team will carry that confidence into Saturday’s home match as FC Dallas continues its push toward the postseason.
