ARLINGTON, Texas — A late-game collapse proved fatal for the Dallas Wings on Wednesday night, as a 30-point fourth-quarter rally from the Atlanta Dream turned a 15-point Dallas lead into an 82-81 heartbreak at a sold-out College Park Center. The loss completed a 3-0 season sweep for Atlanta (17-10) over Dallas (18-10).
Arike Ogunbowale spearheaded the Wings with 24 points, six rebounds, five assists, and a season-high four steals, while Azzi Fudd added 20 points on 9-of-13 shooting off the bench.
Dallas got huge starter production—accounting for 80 of the team’s 81 points—highlighted by Jessica Shepard’s 16-point, 14-rebound effort. It marked her eighth straight double-double, setting a new Wings franchise record and extending her league-leading season total to 19. Paige Bueckers added 16 points and six assists, her 19th game this year reaching both marks.
Despite shooting 49.3% from the field, Dallas self-destructed at the charity stripe, hitting just 64.3% of their free throws. Atlanta capitalized on interior physical play, outscoring Dallas 58-40 in the paint and 21-1 in bench points. Allisha Gray led all scorers with 25 points for the Dream, including a cold-blooded 3-for-3 mark from the line with 18.7 seconds left to secure the win.
The Wings wrap up July on the road Friday night against the Washington Mystics. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. CT on ION.
