CLEVELAND — The Texas Rangers continued their hot streak Monday night, using a late offensive surge to defeat the Cleveland Guardians 6-3 and extend their winning streak to five games.
The turning point came in the seventh inning when rookie Cameron Cauley delivered the first hit of his major league career, ripping a triple into the gap in his debut. Cauley later crossed the plate on Nicky Lopez’s go-ahead single, giving Texas the lead for good.
The Rangers added insurance runs down the stretch to pull away and improve their momentum as they continue their road trip.
Texas will look to keep the streak alive Tuesday when ace Jacob deGrom (6-5, 3.55 ERA) takes the mound against Cleveland right-hander Tanner Bibee (2-8, 3.78 ERA).
