FRISCO, Texas — A lone Loons goal in the 32nd minute was all Minnesota United needed to defeat FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium.
The first half lacked rhythm for both sides.
There was a chance for FCD in the 25th minute when Shaq Moore tried to pinch it in between Drake Callender and the post, but the Minnesota goalkeeper got a right paw on it to touch it off the post and away from frame.
Neither team established a strong sense of possession in the first third of the game, but the Loons did not need it—the visiting side took the lead first in the 32nd minute when Owen Gene got behind to back line, slotted a ball through to Anthony Markanich who tried placing it. While Michael Collodi saved it, he pushed it back into play for Markanich to put away the second time around.
Two high boots each, one for the Minnesota’s goal scorer in the beginning of this match and another yellow for Santiago Moreno in the 41st minute.
Logan Farrington, Ramiro and Sam Sarver subbed in with a third of the game to go.
Petar Musa, the League’s top scorer stepped out just before 70 minutes elapsed and was replaced with Patrickson Delgado.
What could have been an equalizer for Ramiro was launched just top right away from frame in the 77th minute.
The Hoops travel to Seattle this Saturday, for what will begin months worth of away games to come.
