LUBBOCK, Texas — TCU continued its late-season surge Wednesday night, knocking off No. 10 Texas Tech 73-65 on the road to secure a program-record 10th conference victory in Big 12 play.
The Horned Frogs (20-win season for the fourth time in five years under head coach Jamie Dixon) controlled the glass and leaned on a standout performance from Xavier Edmonds to extend their strong stretch, winning seven of their last eight games.
Edmonds powered TCU with 20 points and 12 rebounds, recording his 10th double-double of the season — all within the last 12 games. The junior forward also hit two 3-pointers and has now connected from beyond the arc in four straight games. His double-double total leads the Big 12 this season.
The victory marked one of the most significant road wins in program history. TCU’s win over the 10th-ranked Red Raiders was its second-highest ranked road victory ever, trailing only the Horned Frogs’ 83-60 win at No. 2 Kansas in January 2023.
TCU has now beaten three top-10 teams this season and improved to 3-3 against top-10 opponents. The Horned Frogs also moved to 7-5 away from Schollmaier Arena this year and 5-5 in true road contests.
The Frogs dominated the rebounding battle, finishing with a 39-25 advantage on the boards. TCU is now 18-2 this season when outrebounding its opponent and has won the rebounding margin in eight straight games.
Micah Robinson added 15 points for TCU, his 17th double-digit scoring performance of the season, while Jayden Pierre chipped in 14 points. Brock Harding dished out four assists to lead the Horned Frogs in that category for the 24th time this season.
The victory also highlighted Dixon’s success against ranked competition. Seven of TCU’s eight road wins over AP Top 25 teams in program history have come during his tenure, and 28 of the program’s 43 victories over ranked opponents have occurred under Dixon.
With the win, TCU improved to 58-88 all-time against Texas Tech and evened Dixon’s record against the Red Raiders at 10-10. The Frogs also moved to 6-1 since Robinson entered the starting lineup seven games ago.
The Horned Frogs’ 10 Big 12 victories are the most in program history and the most conference wins by a TCU team since going 14-0 in the WAC during the 1998 season.
