ARLINGTON, Texas — Tyler Mahle made a strong statement in his return to the mound, throwing five shutout innings to earn his first win since April 2023 as the Texas Rangers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 5-2 Friday night at Globe Life Field.
Making his first appearance since undergoing Tommy John surgery, Mahle looked in control from the start—scattering three hits, striking out four, and walking none over 68 pitches.
The Rangers gave him early run support, with Wyatt Langford driving in a run and Marcus Semien launching a solo home run to highlight the offense. Texas’ bullpen handled the rest, holding off a late Rays rally to secure the victory.
With the win, the defending World Series champions improved to 6-3 on the season.
