Mavs Lose To OKC In Overtime, 120-114

DALLAS, TX – Dallas lost to a horrible Magic team on Sunday and lost yet again to a bad Oklahoma City team tonight 120-114 in overtime. Losing back to back games to poor teams puts into perspective the lack of effort that the Mavs have put in the last two games.

Dallas is without Kristaps Porzingis (right knee bone injury) and Tim Hardaway Jr. (broken bone in left foot) but Luka can’t do it all on his own.

Luka was the only player on the Mavs team to score in double figures until the middle of the third quarter when Jalin Brunson scored a bucket to hit 10 points.

Dallas started the game off slow with lackadaisical defense and play. The Mavs got down early to Oklahoma but then went on a 10-2 run late in the first quarter to come within two points of Oklahoma.

The Mavs went into the second quarter down two, 30-28. Luka Doncic had 14 of the Mavs 28 points in the first quarter.

Dallas opens up the second quarter going on an 11-2 run to take the lead 39-33 with seven minutes remaining in the game. The rest of the quarter was back to back as both teams went into the locker room tied at 51-51.

The Thunder out rebounded the Mavs 25-13 which really helped them come back and stay close to Dallas the entire first half.

Doncic had 19 points going into the half and was the only Dallas player in double figures.

Oklahoma outscored Dallas in the third quarter 34-25 and took a nine point lead going into the fourth quarter up 85-76.

The Thunder was shooting very well from beyond the arc at 52 percent going into the fourth quarter while Dallas shot just 33 percent.

Mavs open the fourth quarter going on a 11-4 run coming within two points of OKC, 89-87. Jalin Brunson had eight of those 11 points for the Mavericks as he scored some baskets down the stretch when Dallas needed them.

Oklahoma responded with a 4-0 run and took a five point lead going into the last minute of regulation.

Luka nails a three-pointer to bring the Mavs within one point, 99-98. OKC scores a jump shot and Luka answers with a layup to make the game 101-100, Mavs down one. The Thunder bring the ball down the court and get a shot clock violation giving possession to Dallas.

Reggie Bullock hits a three-pointer with 8.5 seconds left in the game to take a two point lead over OKC.

OKC answered and we went into overtime tied at 103-103.

The Thunder took a five point lead in overtime, 112-107. OKC continued their lead as the Mavs played how they played the entire game. They were slow and sluggish and it resulted in another loss to a bad team.

Dallas will be back in American Airlines Center on Friday to take on the 76’ers at 9:00 PM CST.

TOP PLAYERS:

Luka Doncic had 40 points, 6 rebounds, and 10 assists.
