Cowboys Moved Into Intensive Protocol Following Positive COVID-19 Test

FRISCO, Texas — On Friday, the Dallas Cowboys moved into a virtual mode following a player on the 53-man roster testing positive for COVID-19, a source told D210SPORTS. Practice on Friday was cancelled in response as the team began intensive protocols. Players and coaches took part in virtual meetings ahead of Sunday’s division game against the Giants. Players were instructed to stay home while coaches still reported to the Star, per Mike McCarthy.

For the majority of the season, the Cowboys have avoided contracting the virus throughout the football operations.

A day before the news broke, Mike McCarthy spoke to media on the team’s strict response to protocols and lack of cases.

“The testing that goes on, our guys have done a good job with that. I think clearly having testing for our families has been a huge factor, especially with the onslaught here with the holidays and the flu season upon us. So, I just think the whole combination of the commitment from the organization, players, and staff commitment from the organization, players and staff commitment and diligence has definitely kept our numbers very, very low.”

The positive case still does not deter from the fact that the organization’s dedication and abidance by the league’s protocols have kept the team healthy for the vast majority of the year. Now, the Cowboys will monitor the contact tracing protocols closely to evaluate who if any, has been in contact with the unnamed player.
