Miller scores 25 as SMU beats Syracuse 86-69 in ACC Tournament

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Boopie Miller scored 25 points and SMU pulled away in the second half to defeat Syracuse 86-69 on Tuesday in the first round of the ACC Tournament.

Miller extended his streak to 39 consecutive games scoring in double figures for the Mustangs (20-12). Jaron Pierre Jr. added 21 points, including 17 in the second half.

Jaden Toombs had 16 points, 11 rebounds and six assists, and Samet Yigitoglu finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds as SMU had two players record double-doubles. Corey Washington also scored 12 points.

SMU dominated the glass 44-31 and used a 13-0 run midway through the second half to take control.

The Mustangs advance to face No. 24 Louisville in the second round Wednesday in Charlotte.
