ARLINGTON, Texas — The Rangers used a historic fifth inning to edge the Brewers 5-4 on Monday, winning the series and climbing within 2.5 games of the Astros in the AL West.
Texas strung together a home run (Helman), single (Smith), triple (Langford), and double (Higashioka) in four straight at-bats—marking just the second time in franchise history to hit for the cycle in one inning.
Michael Helman stayed hot with a game-tying two-run homer, his second in as many nights. Langford’s go-ahead triple clocked in at 106.4 mph off the bat. Higashioka added a pinch-hit RBI double to cap the four-run inning.
Jack Leiter threw four scoreless frames before giving up three runs in the fifth. Cody Freeman chipped in with an RBI single in the second.
Milwaukee got a late homer from Jake Bauers but dropped its second straight. The Rangers, winners of 10 of their last 13, go for the sweep Tuesday.
