Quantrill Shines as Rangers Pull Even in AL West

ARLINGTON, Texas — Cal Quantrill delivered another dominant outing Sunday, and the Texas Rangers moved back within one game of .500 with a 5-3 victory over the Los Angeles Angels.

Quantrill tossed six scoreless innings, striking out six while allowing six hits and no walks. He has now thrown 15 consecutive scoreless innings and owns a 0.89 ERA over his last six appearances.

The Rangers improved to 65-66 and have won five of their last eight games. The victory also extended their home series winning streak to five and moved Texas into a tie with Houston for first place in the AL West.

Ezequiel Duran broke a scoreless tie with a second-inning home run, his 14th of the season. Elias Díaz added a solo homer in the fifth, while Cody Freeman delivered his first career triple.

Corey Seager continued his hot stretch with another multi-hit game, giving him multiple hits in six of his last seven games.

The Angels rallied for three runs in the eighth, but Texas held on to complete the series victory.

The Rangers return to action Monday looking to move above .500 for the first time since earlier this season.
