FORT WORTH, Texax – Sonny Dykes and his TCU squad is set for their season opener tomorrow as they take on Tarleton State.
Let’s dive into this Cowtown showdown. This is the first meeting for these teams as the Texans recently switched from Division II to Division I. TCU is the obvious favorite in this matchup but Tarleton has some pretty talented transfers who are already making an impact. Transfer quarterback Beau Allen spent the last two seasons at Kentucky and during his debut against Mississippi Valley State he completed 23 of 38 passes with three touchdowns. Wide Receiver Jaden Smith transferred in from Montana State and registered three touchdowns.
Fourth-year Quarterback Max Duggan is ruled the starter after Chander Morris left last week’s game early with a sprained left knee. It is unclear when Morris will be back but this might be a repeat from last year when Morris took over for Duggan after a foot injury. This could be the chance Duggan needs to regain his starting spot for the Horn Frogs. TCU has won 19 of its last 20 home openers since 2001.
With a star studded TCU secondary in order for Tarleton to pull off the upset their receivers need to play a perfect game. As for TCU Duggan may be the backup but he has a lot of experience so offensively they should be good to go.
