SMU vs Lamar Preview

DALLAS, Texas – The Mustangs are back on the field this Saturday for their first home game of the season. Last week, SMU dominated UNT with a 48-10 win over the Eagles.

After last week’s game, quarterback Tanner Mordecai told the media that his goal was to “up the tempo” for next week’s game, which came as a surprise due to the fact that he threw for a career high of 432 yards and 4 touchdowns. But, he is playing for head coach Rhett Lashlee now, who’s coaching style is all “up-tempo”.

During practice this week, SMU wide receiver Jake Bailey was out observing in his jersey, but no pads. He did not appear to have a sling on his arm, which means he could be getting geared up to play within the next couple of weeks.

The first team offensive line remained as it was against North Texas, working with offensive Coordinator Casey Woods.

ESPN’s matchup predictor give SMU a 99.7% chance at a win over Lamar. Nonetheless, this game will be an exciting home opener for Mustang fans to get a glimpse at Rhett Lashlee’s quick offense and fiery defense.

The game is set to be played Saturday September 10th at 6:00 PM.
