FORT WORTH, TX – TCU (5-2) snapped their two game losing streak, defeating Texas A&M (3-1) on Saturday afternoon in the Lone Star Showdown.

TCU started the game very strong. The Horned Frogs offense was consistent and they protected the ball well. They had great ball movement, penetrated the paint, and shot 46% from beyond the arc in the first half. Samuels presence in the paint created a lot of second chance opportunities for TCU. The Horned Frogs had 22 rebounds in the first 20 minutes, six of those being offensive boards.

On the other end of the court, TCU played lockdown defense. Texas A&M turned the ball over nine times in the first half and was held to 21 points. The Aggies shot 25% from the floor and could not get through the TCU defense.

TCU continued to dominate in the second half. They shot lights out beyond the three-point line shooting 43%. TCU’s effective ball movement and unselfish play led to eight TCU players getting on the board. Three of which were in double-digits. RJ Nembhard led with 16 points and 4 rebounds. Mike Miles had 15 points and 3 rebounds. PJ Fuller returned tonight after missing two games, he had 13 points and 2 rebounds.

TCU held Texas A&M to 55 points. The Aggies couldn’t find a rhythm on offense. They shot 38% from the floor and 23% from the three-point line. Texas A&M struggled keeping the ball in their hands, they ended the night with 20 turnovers. The Aggies were led by Jay Jay Chandler, he had 12 points.

Junior Guard RJ Nembhard said that this was personal for the team. They wanted to come out today and prove that they could be consistent on both ends of the floor. He said that this win gives them a momentum booster going into this week’s games on the road.

The Horned Frogs will be heading to Oklahoma State to take on the Cowboys on Wednesday at 8:00 p.m.
