DALLAS — Cooper Flagg enters his second NBA season with confidence and plenty of momentum after a productive rookie campaign with the Dallas Mavericks.
Flagg played 70 games as a rookie, averaging 21.0 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game, giving Dallas a strong foundation to build on heading into Year 2.
Now, Flagg believes his offseason work has him ready for another step forward. He said he focused on improving his ballhandling, finishing and overall mechanics while keeping his approach simple.
“I just feel really confident,” Flagg said. “I’ve been working on different things, a lot of different mechanics, but just keeping it simple at the same time.”
Flagg also said the additional time with his teammates this summer has helped build chemistry. He believes playing alongside an established NBA star has made the adjustment easier.
“He just makes it easy to play with him,” Flagg said. “Obviously, he’s one of the greats of our game, and he is an incredible talent.”
For Flagg, the next challenge is turning that offseason confidence into production once the regular season begins.
“I’m excited,” Flagg said. “I’m excited just to be able to share the court.”
