ARLINGTON, Texas — Paige Bueckers and Arike Ogunbowale gave the Dallas Wings plenty of firepower Saturday, helping them close their regular-season home schedule with an 87-82 victory over the Phoenix Mercury at a sold-out College Park Center.
Bueckers scored 26 points, with 20 coming in the first half, while adding four rebounds and five assists. Her early scoring helped Dallas establish control before Phoenix made a late push.
Ogunbowale finished with 22 points and six assists while also contributing two rebounds, a steal and a blocked shot. She delivered an important play late, converting a driving layup and the ensuing free throw with 1:19 remaining to push Dallas’ lead to five.
The victory moved Dallas to 26-16 and extended its winning streak to six games. The Wings also secured the season series against Phoenix, which fell to 15-27.
Lexi Held paced the Mercury with 21 points, along with two rebounds, three assists, three steals and a block.
Saturday’s victory marked the final regular-season home game for the Wings at College Park Center. Dallas will close the regular season with another meeting against Phoenix on Monday, Sept. 21, at the Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix. Tipoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. CT.
The Wings now turn their attention to the postseason with momentum building after a strong finish to the regular season.
