Mavericks Bolster Roster in Six-Team Blockbuster, Add Aldama, Biberović and Sasser

DALLAS — The Dallas Mavericks continued reshaping their roster Wednesday, completing a six-team trade that brings forward Santi Aldama, the draft rights to Tarik Biberović and guard Marcus Sasser to Dallas.

The deal, one of the most complex transactions of the NBA offseason, involved the Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles Clippers, Memphis Grizzlies, Milwaukee Bucks and Washington Wizards.

Aldama gives Dallas another versatile frontcourt option with the ability to stretch the floor, while Sasser adds scoring punch and depth in the backcourt. Biberović, whose NBA rights were acquired from Memphis, is viewed as a promising wing with perimeter shooting ability after developing overseas with Turkish club Fenerbahçe. His arrival in Dallas remains subject to completing his international contract situation.

To complete the transaction, the Mavericks sent guard AJ Johnson, a top-20 protected 2030 first-round draft pick originally belonging to Golden State and a 2029 second-round selection from Houston to the Grizzlies. Dallas also included forward Khris Middleton and a 2033 second-round pick in a sign-and-trade that sent Middleton to the Washington Wizards.

The additions continue an aggressive offseason for the Mavericks as the organization builds around its young core under new head coach Dusty May. Aldama’s size, shooting and versatility address a need in the frontcourt, while Sasser provides another playmaker capable of contributing on both ends of the floor.

Biberović, one of Europe’s most accomplished young shooters, gives Dallas another developmental piece with the potential to strengthen the team’s wing rotation in the future.

The six-team agreement marks one of the largest trades in franchise history and reflects the Mavericks’ commitment to adding depth, positional versatility and outside shooting heading into the 2026-27 season.
