ARLINGTON, Texas — Miami leaned on a stingy defense and timely offense to grind out a 24–14 win over Ohio State on Tuesday night, sending the Hurricanes through to the next round of the College Football Playoff.
Miami controlled the tempo for long stretches, capitalizing on field position and turning key third-down conversions into points. The Hurricanes’ defense did the rest, limiting explosive plays and closing out the Buckeyes with a fourth-quarter stop that sealed it.
Ohio State trimmed the deficit to one score in the second half, but Miami answered with a methodical drive capped by a touchdown that restored control. From there, the Hurricanes leaned on the ground game and a disciplined pass rush to finish the job.
With the victory, Miami extends a resurgent season and moves one step closer to a national title shot — a stage the program once owned and is now fighting to reclaim.
