DALLAS, Texas- The No. 4 Duke Blue Devils will travel to Dallas to face the SMU Mustangs in a highly anticipated matchup Saturday afternoon. This will be the first time in nearly 50 years that Duke has played at SMU’s Moody Coliseum, and the game is expected to be played in front of a completely sold-out crowd.
SMU, in its first season in the ACC, has gotten off to a strong start, entering the contest with an 11-2 record. The Mustangs are undefeated in conference play, with wins over Virginia and Boston College. Duke, meanwhile, is 11-2 overall and 3-0 in the ACC, having defeated Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, and Louisville. The Blue Devils’ only losses this season have come against top-10 teams Kentucky and Kansas.
The Mustangs, led by a veteran squad bolstered by the transfer portal, will face a tough test against Duke’s talented roster. However, SMU enters the game with momentum, riding a seven-game winning streak.
SMU guard Boopie Miller has been a standout this season, averaging 15 points per game. Miller brings a unique advantage to this matchup, as he is one of the few players on the roster with experience defeating Duke. Last season, while playing for Wake Forest, Miller helped lead the Demon Deacons to an upset of the Blue Devils, scoring 15 points and adding five assists in the victory.
With their blend of talent and experience, the Mustangs have the potential to pull off an upset and make a statement in their inaugural ACC season.
Tip-off is set for 1:30 p.m. CT.
