On The Hunt For Victory: Mavericks Aim To Overcome Hawks After Tuesday Night Loss To Warriors

DALLAS, TEXAS — The Mavericks look to redeem themselves after falling short to the Golden State Warriors 104-100. This loss broke the Mavs seven game winning streak, but Dallas has a chance to get bounce back with a win over Atlanta.

The last time these two teams faced each other back in January, Dallas came away with a close 148-143 victory. Many remember this game for the performance Luka Dončić had, dropping 73 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and dished out seven assists in Atlanta.

The Hawks are coming into this matchup twenty-four hours after defeating the Detroit Pistons 121-113, which helped the team clinch a spot in the Eastern Conference play-in tournament. Jalen Johnson led the Hawks with 28 points, dominated the glass with 14 points and 11 assists.

The Mavericks boast one of the league’s top offenses, led by key contributors like Kyrie Irving and Dončić, who average 33.9 points per game. In contrast, the Hawks rank 5th in the league in scoring.

Defensively both teams are not at their best. Starting with the Mavericks, they’ve improved but are currently ranked 20th in points per game allowed as well as field goal percentage allowed. Atlanta is in the 27th spot in all three cylinders: PPG, field goal percentage and three point attempts.

Concerning injuries the Mavericks will be without Josh Green and Derrick Lively. The Hawks have not released an injury report. These two teams are set to clash tonight in the American Airlines Center, tip-off is at 6:30 pm.
