Nationally Ranked Mustangs Host Tulane

SMU comes off their bye week 6-0, as one of the 11 undefeated teams through the first 7 weeks of the college football season. Most notably, the Mustangs won the Iron Skillet, beating TCU 42-34 on the 100th matchup between the crosstown rivals.

Tulane heads to Dallas 1-5, needing an upset to get their first conference win. The Green Wave’s last win came over Morgan State in mid-September. Since then, Tulane lost 4 straight games, struggling to put together strong defensive performances.

SMU’s offense averages over 500 yards of total offense and 40 points per game. Standout Quarterback, Tanner Mordecai transferred from OU, joining an offensive line that returned all 5 starters from last season. The combination has been unstoppable to this point, leading the country in sacks allowed (1) and tied for first nationally with 26 passing touchdowns.

American Conference teams have an 8-game conference regular season schedule. Houston and Cincinnati join SMU as the teams without a conference loss, leaving the top of the conference rankings tied up for now.

After tonight’s game, the Mustangs have back to back road trips at Houston and Memphis. Conference play continues through the end of November, which decides the top 2 teams from the regular season. The AAC Championship game will be December 4th.

SMU won the matchup with Tulane each year since 2015. The Mustangs have the opportunity to make it 7 straight wins over Tulane, and 7 straight wins this season. Kick off will be at 6:30 pm CT in Ford Stadium, nationally televised on ESPN.
