Not All is Lost For The Renegades, Despite 0-4 Start…Maybe

ARLINGTON, TEXAS — The Arlington Renegades continue looking for their first win of the season, this time against the San Antonio Brahmas at home Saturday.

This is the second straight week the Renegades play a fellow Texas team as last week they lost to the Roughnecks in Houston in a defensive struggle, losing 17-9. The Brahmas on the other hand come into Arlington with a 3-1 record, recently defeating the Michigan Panthers in their own defensive struggle, winning 19-9. These two teams faced off twice last season, however the Brahmas are fielding a relatively new roster, including new head coach, Wade Phillips.

The Renegades top three passing will have its hands full with the second best passing defense in the Brahmas. One of the key things to watch is the success rate of the Renegades on 3rd down, which is tops in the league at the moment. Despite not having the points indicating success, they are able to keep drives alive often on 3rd down, converting an efficient 54%. The Brahmas defense only gives up a stifling 34% of 3rd down conversion, so the strength on strength chess match is something to keep an eye out for..

Perhaps not all hope is lost for the Renegades, as believe it or not, are still in the thick of the XFL conference race. That has QB Luis Perez and the rest of the team still encouraged about the season, Perez stated, “were still in the hunt, were not out of it at all, everybody knows that in the locker room.” There is still an upbeat tone surrounding Arlington because they could make a statement tonight. A win against the Brahmas Saturday plus a St. Louis Battlehawks win against the Defenders, will create a three way tie in the XFL Conference between the Defenders, Brahmas, and Renegades with a 1-2 conference record. That would leave the St. Louis Battlehawks all by themselves atop the conference.

Kickoff vs the Bahamas is set for 6pm CT at Choctaw Stadium. Stay tuned for more
