FORT WORTH, TEXAS — Despite TCU’s campus shutting down, classes cancelled and the presence of snow and ice it did not slow the TCU basketball team and community from showing up in tonight’s game.

TCU played West Virginia for the second time this season and defeated the Mountaineers 76-72.

Jakobe Coles led the team with 17 points and 2 rebounds.

In the first half it was a back and forth game between the two teams. West Virginia was physical on defense but could not find an answer to TCU’s offense.

Without Mike Miles and limited minutes from Eddie Lampkin they were still able to find an offensive rhythm shooting 51.5% from the field.

Head Coach Jamie Dixon said there’s one message they continue to emphasis within his team.

“This is a team that’s had to step up,” said Dixon. “And when I say ‘step up’ it’s just play your game, you’re gonna play more minutes and that’s the message we are going to get across to them.”

Two key players in the 2nd half were Damion Baugh and Shahada Wells. Baugh finished the game in double-digits with 14 points and 10 assists and Wells went 7-10 with 15 points.

Coach Dixon talked highly of Well’s performance.

“I’m really happy for him,’ said Dixon. “Some things didn’t go right early and he’s battle through it. Now he’s playing how I expected.”

TCU will hit the road to face the Oklahoma State Cowboys on Saturday February 4th at 1 p.m.
