Cowboys In Conversation With WR Odell Beckham Jr.

FRISCO, TX – The Dallas Cowboys are in conversation with former L.A. Rams wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. Stephen Jones announced on twitter on Monday that the Cowboys were in conversations with Beckham Jr. but nothing had been finalized.

Jerry Jones told 105.2thefan that he was very interested in signing the veteran WR and he explained his thoughts in making this decision.

“We should be aware that he’s coming off this (knee) injury, but he showed he can do it, and do it well last year. So that would go in the mix real good. His past dealing with adversity of injury rehab, I think that tells you a lot… I think a veteran player, such as Odell, my experience has been when we’ve brought a veteran player in, they hit the ground running in terms of being able to compete. That usually is not a big factor when we think about whether or not a player can fit. Now, the player’s individual skills, his people skills as well as his past experience in terms of the systems that he’s been in, if (the player) has been with several teams. All of those weigh in on it. I think that you’re looking at a player that his experience far outweighs any of that ambiguity involved with how he’s going to fit your system.” Jones said.

The former Rams WR tore his ACL during the Super Bowl last year and has not returned to the action since.

Former Cowboys WR Michael Irvin also spoke on the subject of signing Beckham Jr. on 105.3thefan, “ Odell is built to be in Dallas. He’s been wanting to play in Dallas for a long time. I believe (the Cowboys) do have the upper hand right now. It would be a great get if (Jerry) can get Odell. He would love to play for Dallas.”

After practice got underway in Frisco on Wednesday morning the players were asked about the thought of having Beckham be a part of the Cowboy’s organization and none of them seemed to be opposed to the idea.

“We know what type of player Odell is. We know how explosive he can be and what he could bring to this offense. It would be great to get his down here in Dallas.. He would definitely fit in this locker room. We want OBJ.” Ezekiel Elliott said after following practice on Wednesday.

Linebacker Micah Parsons was very optimistic and showed his interest in having Beckham Jr. on the team.

“Shit, we could use him. I think he’s a great player. He’s a guy you want on your team. I think he’s a great dude. I think he could add good value to the team and help us do what we want to do.” Parsons said after practice.

As of late Wednesday nothing has been finalized or official in Dallas when it comes to signing Beckham.
