Dallas Wings Fall to Chicago Sky, 89-81

ARLINGTON, TX- The Dallas Wings were unable to secure a win tonight against the Chicago Sky resulting in a 89-81 loss.

In the first half of tonight’s game, both teams were back and forth with shots made, making the lead change multiple times. Both teams struggled from beyond the arch as Chicago missed all of their three-point attempts, Dallas making one.

Chicago shot 46.2 percent from the field while Dallas was just over 40 perfect. Dallas leads at the half 42-41.

Chicago guard Kahleah Copper came out hot after halftime scoring 10 points in the first four minutes of the quarter. Wings Marina Mabrey did it all herself in the third as the guard had 12 points. For the Wings, Allisha Gray closed out the third quarter with a twenty-four-foot three-pointer that brought the lead 65-59.

In the fourth quarter, Chicago’s Emma Meesseman started the offense off with back-to-back shots made, sending the Wings defense in a worry. Chicago regained the lead and maintained it throughout the remainder of the game. Dallas was Outscored 28-12 in the final stanza of the game, where the Sky gained the largest lead of the game.

Chicago wins 89-81.

This is Dallas’s first time losing this season when leading after the third quarter. Collectively, the team shot 39.4% from the field and 43.8% from the three-point line. Wings had 24 rebounds and 14 assists total. Tonight’s lead scorer Marina Mabrey had 22 points, followed by Teaira
McCowan’s 6 rebounds.

Dallas will have a few days off before facing Chicago Sky again on Friday, July 22nd.
